Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Brownies:
    • 1 cup butter, melted
    • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 cups granulated sugar
    • 4 large eggs
    • 4 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • For the Frosting:
    • 1/4 cup butter, softened
    • 1/4 cup milk
    • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 3 cups powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter and cocoa powder until smooth.
  • Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla, mixing well.
  • Stir in flour and mix until just combined. Fold in nuts if using.
  • Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • While brownies bake, prepare frosting: Mix butter, milk, cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Spread frosting over warm brownies for a glossy finish.
  • Allow brownies to cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Frosting the brownies while warm creates a smooth, glossy topping.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For extra richness, add chocolate chips to the batter.
